I thot I was the only Gaijin making that joke.
Japanese don't really think its funny tho'--at least not with me :(
They laugh politely and then sneakily steer the conversation to a something along the lines of, "Wow Japenese is a really hard language isn't it!" (everyone nods violently)"Ne, Mike you are really josu ni natta"(again a chorus of "So desu ne" and more violent nods.)Oh well....

I think this vein of jokes is only funny to gaijins that have a handle on Japanese or gaijins who have watched enough Japanese terebi bangumis or Japanese Nationals who have spent enough time sharpening their Japlish joke skills.

BTW, Elaina really backed me up with this one, she shook her head with such shame & tried really hard not to laugh. I was actually making this meal when I thought of this!! Talk about lame.

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
i retold it to a group of sleepy teens at breakfast this morning, and not a single one of them laughed, which enhanced the hilarity of this joke for me.

FLo-jo, you warm my heart. That's exactly how I thought that joke should have been enjoyed. I can see it right now, solomn blank stares through a haze of coffee steam. It makes you just wanna laugh all the harder thinking that people don't think it's funny.

DAYO...NE????

When I heard the beginning part of the joke, I said out loud to myself while being totaly alone in the cold studio...and I quote (no joke) "Oh no".
It was a "oh no" type joke... and I laughed hard, because I am an "oh no" type of person.
Speaking of which... you should of heard us busking today. It was "oh no" as well! :).

Snorksnork...hahaha, it's that corny Rider humor that we know & love. Bound to either make u roll your eyes till u strain them, or laugh for the sheer dumbness of it, or both! I love u, Ali. Will miss hearing from u thru' your blog. Will there be a substitute for keeping in touch?
